Every year around this time I hear the same thing, Jesus is the reason for the season, but often the people that are saying the words are the ones out there supporting the idea that Christmas is all about themselves. How many times have we said that giving gifts is how we show love for the season, yet to get the gifts we show hate to others. I have come to realize that the wrong idea of Christmas was in my head as well, for I would love to give gifts, but mostly to impress people on how well I could find the perfect gift. But in the long run I was just being all the more self-centered, and in that way Christmas has become a "me" holiday in stead of a "Him" holiday.

It’s rather ironic how the one time of year that we are supposed to be extra reminded to be loving and cheerful, we are hate full and nasty. We see the same year after year people racing to the stores getting low prices, people cutting in front of people, people yelling at people.

Christmas is the day we as Christians celebrate Christ’s birth. Usually pastors read about the nativity, you know the classic Marry, Joseph, shepherds. But what about john 3: 16 – God loved us enough that he sent his son to show us how to love and in showing us the ultimate love he told us to do the same. Now don’t get me wrong I’m no scrooge, We should rejoice around this time for the awesome love that God has given us through Jesus. Rejoice in giving, and letting other people see what God has done for you, so they too can share in the joy. That’s the kind of love that God has said to give, it’s the kind that money cant buy. So just remember when your out in JC pennies and they have a thirty percent off on the one pair of jeans that you’ve been hunting high and low for, and some lady takes it from you, remember what this seasons all about. We are to show love, and remember what this season is truly about.
